"I am a big admirer of Frida Kahlo who I view as a kindred spirit:
her art, her love, her life...
Friducha was a true alchemist, and a major part of my body of work is inspired and influenced by the ancient ‘science’ of Alchemy and the various experimental stages described in the formulae for turning lead into gold.
In Alchemy, the Prima Materia (lead) is transmuted into Rubedo (gold) through a series of transformational processes.
These alchemical processes can be viewed as metaphors for the mental and emotional processes of the Psyche, reflecting the search and longing for inner and outer gold, that can eventually lead to the attainment of the ultimate prize: the Philosopher’s Stone - which for me is symbolized by the creative process and the resulting artwork and stories."
